Frequently Asked Questions About Chardham Yatra From Delhi 2026
Planning a 12-day Chardham yatra brings up many practical questions. Based on trending queries, here are the direct answers to the most common questions about the Chardham yatra package from delhi.
Q1: Is biometric registration mandatory for Chardham Yatra 2026? How much does it cost?
Ans: Yes, registration is 100% mandatory for all pilgrims visiting Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The government checks your digital QR code at checkpoints like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Sonprayag. The registration itself is completely free. When you book your chardham package from delhi with us, our team handles this entire online registration process for you at no extra cost.
Q2: Why do taxi drivers turn off the car AC on the mountain roads?
Ans: This is a major concern, On steep mountain climbs, running the Air Conditioner (AC) pulls heavy power from the engine, which can cause the vehicle to overheat or lose sudden grip on sharp roads. For your safety, drivers turn off the AC once the hill section starts after Haridwar/Rishikesh. Don’t worry, the mountain air is naturally very cool. The AC will work perfectly fine on the plain highway between Delhi and Haridwar.
Q3: What are the hidden or extra costs that I should prepare for on Chardham tour?
Ans: To keep things highly transparent, your package covers transport, stay, breakfast, and dinner. The extra costs you should budget for are:
- Local government sharing shuttle jeeps between Sonprayag and Gaurikund (approx. ₹30 to ₹50 per person).
- Pony, doli, or helicopter rides for the treks.
- Daily lunch, personal snacks, and temple puja tokens.
Q4: Can senior citizens or people with health issues complete this 12-day trip safely?
Ans: Yes, Our 12-day layout is carefully designed to prevent altitude sickness. For the trek of Yamunotri (6 km) and Kedarnath (19 km), senior citizens can completely avoid walking by renting a pony, a doli (sitting sedan chair), or booking a helicopter service. We highly recommend doing a basic medical checkup with your family doctor before leaving Delhi.
Q5: Which mobile network works best during Uttarakhand Char Dham yatra?
Ans: Jio and Airtel offer the most reliable 4G networks across most parts of the highway, including the main towns like Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, and Badrinath. At the high-altitude Kedarnath temple complex, BSNL and Jio work best, though signals can drop during heavy rain or thick fog. It is a good idea to inform your family in Delhi about occasional network drops.
Q6: Are phones and cameras allowed inside the main temples?
Ans: Under the official guidelines, mobile phones, cameras, and any recording devices are strictly banned inside the temples like Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Gangotri temples. You can take photos outside the temple, but making promotional video or reels near the main gates is highly discouraged to maintain the peace and dignity of the temples.
Q7: What type of clothing should I pack for the Chardham tour from Delhi?
Ans: The weather changes quickly in the mountains. Even during the peak summer months of May and June, high-altitude spots like Kedarnath and Badrinath drop close to 5°C at night. You should pack:
- 2-3 heavy woolens or a thick winter jacket.
- A raincoat or a windcheater jacket (sudden rain is common).
- Good quality walking shoes with a strong rubber grip for the trek blocks.
Q8: What happens if our drive is delayed by a landslide or bad weather?
Ans: Safety is always our top priority. Landslides are a natural part of the Himalayan ecosystem. If a road is blocked, our experienced drivers coordinate with local traffic police to find alternative routes or wait safely at secure transit towns. Any extra costs for extended hotel stays or food caused by natural road closures are paid directly on the spot by the guest.
